WOO HOO IT’S ALMOST OVER

WOO HOO IT’S ALMOST OVER                                                                                             Andy Hollifield 11-6-18

Ecclesiastes 7:8 Better is the end of a thing than the beginning thereof: and the patient in spirit is better than the proud in spirit.

Solomon must have known a little about politics when the Lord inspired him to write that verse. We have finally reached the day that we will find out if our country is going to continue to progress or begin to regress. Regardless of all of that, one positive thing will definitely take place today. There will no longer be a need for Robo calls, surveys, empty promises, and character assassination. But don’t worry; we will still have telemarketers to drive us crazy. You know who I am talking about: Card Member Services that want you to let them have your financial info and leave it in their hands to lower your interest rates. The same ones that can’t ever seem to get you on a do not call list but they want you to trust them with your finances. Think about that one for a minute. That same crowd that tries to get you to trust them but yet they change their calling tactics so you don’t know who they are at first. The ones that steal local phone numbers to deceive you when they call to get you to trust them. Ask them sometime “Why would you think I would give you my financial info when you can’t even seem to manage getting me on a do not call list?” They don’t really have it to say after that. But don’t enjoy your little victory too much because they will call you back tomorrow.

One more day of last-minute phone calls and the media reporting in a way to make you think there is no point in even voting if you don’t agree with their views. Now for the hypocritical part that never seems to change. All of these city, county, and state officials that want to preserve the pristine beauty of our mountains and the judges that will cite you for littering, will leave all of their signs up destroying that pristine beauty, until a big snow breaks them down. Such is life I reckon and I am sure it won’t change just because I expressed my opinion on it. When it comes to political seasons; the end of it is definitely better than the beginning.

The fact of the matter is as Daniel 2:21 says, “And he changeth the times and the seasons: he removeth kings, and setteth up kings: he giveth wisdom unto the wise, and knowledge to them that know understanding:” There is nothing going to take place today that God can’t handle and hasn’t known about since before the foundation of the world. I am convinced that if we keep going down this path as a nation and kicking God out of everything except when there is a tragedy, he may pull his hand of blessing off of our country and let us have our hearts desire. I believe we are seeing some of that already. You don’t even have to agree with me. This is America and we are allowed to have different opinions on stuff without killing each other. We should all be like professional wrestlers; fight like the dickens when discussing opinions but then go out to eat together immediately after.

Do you know what I really like about today other than the fact we are getting to exercise our constitutional duty? It is because tomorrow, my God will be just the same as he is today. I don’t have to worry whether or not he will keep his promises because he has yet to ever break one. He will be the same tomorrow as he is today and was yesterday. James, when speaking of the Lord in James 1:17 said, “…with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning”. Or, as Paul put it in Hebrews 13:8, “Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever”. Win, lose, or draw, God still has everything under control. There will be no change made unless God allows it to happen. The good thing is that if he does want change, he won’t have to clear it through Congress or the Senate. His grace will still be sufficient and his strength will still be made perfect in weakness tomorrow just as it was today (2 Corinthians 12:9). Just as John said in 10:28-29, Jesus will still give eternal life, and those of us that have accepted him as Savior will still never perish, and no one will still not be able to pluck us out of God’s hand. God is not being voted out of office and never will be. That’s been tried before and it didn’t work then and it won’t work now. He is still sitting on the throne today and he will still be there tomorrow. Regardless of what anyone else says or thinks, we will still have a Savior that will answer our prayers and would bankrupt heaven if he needed to just to meet our needs.

So all will not be lost today. Jeremiah 17:7 says, “Blessed is the man that trusteth in the Lord, and whose hope the Lord is”. Do you know what that tells me? I am still blessed and he is still my hope regardless of who wins and who loses. With Jesus as my Savior I will always be a winner. Have a blessed day in the Lord!!!
