YOU CAN’T MAKE THIS STUFF UP                                                                                               Andy Hollifield 12-24-18

Philippians 4:19 But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

I have been dying to write this since Saturday night when it happened but I wanted to wait and make sure it all came together as planned. When I am done with this story, I am sure that you will agree that you can’t make this stuff up.

On Saturday night I received a call from my friend Jacky that we had visited earlier in the evening. She is the lady we helped find a home for with a Facebook post and a desperate prayer last year in mid December. She was out of work due to pregnancy complications, soon to be homeless,  and had nowhere to go. To make a long story short, she was calling to see if I could help find a home for a friend of hers from Atlanta that is expecting in January, coincidentally with a due date in January only 1 year and 1 day after Sam’s due date last year. I told Jacky that I would make a call or two and see what I could come up with although I already knew what to do. You see, for the last eight months, my friend Paula has been asking me when we were going to get the Gideon Home open so she could volunteer. She has also told me numerous times that she was ready to take in another girl. Paula and her husband Eric were both convinced that their mission in life might be to house young ladies and coach them through their pregnancy and be there with them in Labor and Delivery.

I said nothing to Jacky about my plan and was surprised that she hadn’t thought of it and called Paula herself. As soon as I got off of the phone with Jacky I called Paula. When she answered the phone I said, “This is Andy. Are you ready for another one?” “Another what?” she asked. “Another pregnant girl” I told her. Then it really started getting weird. Well maybe that is not the right word, at least not if you are a child of God and have seen him work in impossible situations as I had last year with Jacky. To my surprise Paula told me that she had prayed earlier that day that God would use their home again and would send them another young mother to care for and stand beside. With out hesitation and with a quick conversation with Eric, she said they would take her. Almost 53 weeks to the day, God had allowed them the opportunity to play host to another young lady.

I had the privilege to meet this girl Sunday night and she is a quiet and well-mannered young lady. There is a slight issue already with the language barrier. This young lady speaks only Spanish and no one in Paula’s house does. We are all having to use a translator app on our phones to text back and forth. Getting back to Jacky for a minute, I called her right back and told her I had found a place for the girl to stay. I then told her that she needed to call Paula to arrange the whole meeting. She was kind of stunned and asked me if I was serious. I assured her I was and the wheels were now in motion. She called Paula only moments later and arrangements were made.

What are the odds that the lady we helped last year is going to not think about Paula for someone in the same situation she had been in only a year before? God has put it all in motion, right down to Jacky helping to find the girl a home. Really; what are the odds of all of that happening? Here was our client from last year helping find a home for our client this year. Also, what about Paula praying only hours earlier for God to once again use their home to help someone? God worked this out right down to the fact that the new baby is going to be a boy and can inherit all of the stuff Sam has outgrown. I would call that God supplying all of this young lady’s need for her.

Roll all of those things around in your mind a minute. Can you seriously believe that it all just happened? I believe in Judges 7 that God used 300 men to deliver Israel so that no one else could take credit for what the Lord had done. If he done that for Gideon and his army, he can still do it for me and for this young lady. God has orchestrated all of this to bring people together and demonstrate his power and provision as only he can do. I understand that this is a little unbelievable but it is absolutely true. Here we go again.  Like I said, you can’t make this stuff up. Have a blessed day in the Lord!!!
